Positive Education brings together the science of Positive Psychology with best practice teaching to encourage and support individuals, schools and communities to flourish. We refer to flourishing as a combination of ‘feeling good and doing good’. Positive Education focuses on specific skills that assist students to strengthen their relationships, build positive emotions, enhance personal resilience, promote mindfulness, and encourage a healthy lifestyle.
We also aim to foster engagement amongst our students, encouraging achievement and equipping them with the qualities to enable a fulfilling life. Our approach is underpinned by teaching students to recognise and utilise their Character Strengths. Through ongoing research and training in Positive Education, all staff are guided in best practice teaching methodologies to promote learning, strengthen academic performance and foster vital teacher-student relationships. The benefits of a whole-school approach to Positive Education are far reaching, influencing every teacher, student and member of the school community.
It is through teaching these valuable life skills that we provide students with an increased capacity to learn effectively, along with offering a strong foundation on which they can build a successful and happy life.
